As the first financial media in Finland, Kauppalehti is offering Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings to its subscribers. Sustainalytics, a Morningstar company and a global provider of ESG research, ratings and data, is providing its ESG Risk Ratings on the 25 most traded companies on Nasdaq Helsinki.
Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings are designed to help investors identify and understand financially material ESG risks in their portfolio companies and how that risk might affect performance. The ESG Risk Ratings measure a company’s exposure to industry-specific material ESG risks and how well a company is managing those risks. This multi-dimensional way of measuring ESG risk combines the concepts of management and exposure to arrive at an absolute assessment of ESG risk that is comparable across all industries. Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings provide a quantitative measure of unmanaged ESG risk and distinguish between five levels of risk: negligible (0-9.99), low (10-19.99), medium (20-29.99), high (30-39.99) and severe (40 and above). A low ESG Risk Rating score for a company indicates low ESG risk. The lower the risk rating, the better is the company performance in managing its ESG risks.
“The need to manage risks related to climate change and other risks are steering investment decisions towards corporate responsibility and sustainable development. Both retail and institutional investors are seeking increasingly detailed information on companies’ carbon footprint, governance, human capital, and diversity. Our collaboration with Sustainalytics makes us the first financial media in Finland to provide data to support sustainable investment decisions,” says Arno Ahosniemi, Senior Editor-in-Chief of Kauppalehti.
