About Slovakia

The main industry sectors are car manufacturing and electrical engineering. Since 2007, Slovakia has been the world's largest producer of cars per capita. Reasons for the influx of multi-national corporations include proximity to Western Europe, a skilled work force and the high density of universities and research facilities. The ICT sector plays an important role in the Slovak economy and has significant potential for the growth of the country’s GDP. Due to a favorable combination of business advantages, Slovakia has become an attractive destination for ICT investors.

The Slovak labor force is perceived by foreign investors as educated, motivated, and adaptable to culturally different management styles with great multilingual competency and a very positive attitude to work habits. 80% of Slovaks speak at least one language other than their mother tongue. Multilingualism is valued by the younger generation -students learn at least one foreign language at primary school, and then pursue these studies at higher levels.
